Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and the core engineering department that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery and tools which is used for manufacture of various products/components ranging from house hold items to components used in space research. The continuous technological development in the field of mechanical engineering has contributed greatly in the industrial revolution throughout the world. The development of computer aided design and manufacturing has introduced the concept of not only the mass scale production but also the production of components and products with sophisticated and intricate design in the field of automobile, aerospace, agricultural, consumer products, material handling equipments etc. It has greatly helped in the expansion of small, medium and large scale industries in all the fields thereby increasing scope of employment.
