Technical Education is instrumental in making the remarkable contribution to economic growth of the developing countries by way of suitable man power production according to the needs of the industry, society and the global world as a whole. To produce fully skilled manpower/knowledgeable technocrats in the present era of science and technology is the need of the hour. Polytechnic Education has responded to the challenges of industrialization for self reliance .
The aim of the polytechnic Education is to create a pool of skill based manpower to support shop floor and field operations as a middle level link between technicians and Engineers. To make the above possible, GGS Polytechnic, Kharar has been playing a very constructive role in the state of Punjab from the last 10 years. It has inculcated innovative methods of teaching and learning process to make the diploma education in polytechnic easier to understand and learn. One of the most proven techniques of providing higher technical education is the latest Total Quality Management which has been implemented in our college with full commitment from management. We are one of the few privileged polytechnic institution who have implemented this latest technique.

- Research and Development: We feel pride in mentioning that ours is the only Polytechnic in the whole country where we have started research and development work. We are setting up a R&D lab fully equipped with latest measuring equipment and machinery for experimental work to be conducted by the student and the faculty .Our final year students of mechanical Engineering have already done the analysis of cutting force, temperature measurement and the material removal rate of different raw materials under different cutting conditions. Our students of EE have erected and commissioned the solar panel system for supply of electricity to the college library.
- In-house training: The most important aspect of polytechnic education is to proving strong practical knowledge base which helps the students to find placement in the small and medium level industries. GGs polytechnic has established a very sound infrastructure of workshops and labs manned by experienced and skilled technocrats and latest machinery and instrument. We not only provide practical skills to our students but also provide in –house training to our students .We also undertake free training of persons for nearby industry for improvement in there practical skill a development .
- Liaison with industry and industrial visit: We organize guest lecture from industry expert for updating of their latest technical knowledge for our final year students. This has helped our students to gain access to latest manufacturing techniques from the industry experts. This has made our students to do well in interviews in the industries. We also organize industrial visit to reputed manufacturing / service industry viz.HMT, C-DEC, power generation, CSRO and Bhushan steel, and Bharat forge etc.
- Personality development program: In order to prepare the students to face competitive environment of the industry, we conduct personality development programs for development of overall personality of our students. It infuses confidence and self discipline in their personality which is essential for achieving carrier prospects.
- Placement: Our students have been well placed in manufacturing, process and service industry. Recently M/S CLAAS industry Pvt. Ltd Morinda visited our campus in Oct 2014 and 4 students were selected with the package of 2 lacs. This was followed by a job placement drive 28th Oct 2014 wherein Swaraj Mazda, Cheema boilers, Bhushan steel etc wherein 50 students were selected. Number of companies has confirmed their participation in the job placement going to be held in month of Feb 2015. Quiet a number of our students are working in reputed companies namely Maruti Suzuki, L&T ,Ambuja cement, Godrej, Haryana state electricity board etc.
- Continuous improvement quality program: As a part of latest teaching and learning technique, continuous improvement quality program is playing a dominant role in improving the quality education based on feedback from the students and the industry. Feedback from placed students not only plays a vital role in enhancing the teaching learning process but also helps to fill the gap between education system and industry. This has enabled our students to do well in the industry.
- Cultural events: It is customary for GGS Polytechnic to welcome the newcomers in the family of GGS Sachdeva group through AGAAZ (fresher’s party) wherein various cultural events bhangra, giddha , fashion show etc are performed by our students. In the Mr. and Ms. Fresher competition Mr. and Ms. Fresher are selected among first year students. Similarly SAYONARA (farewell party) is organized every year to give farewell to our final year students who are going to start a new life in their career. Various others indoor competitions like rangoli, debate, group discussion, Lohri celebration etc are also organized during the course of their studies.
- Tech-Fest: Tech- Fest PARHELION, an inter college function is organized every year wherein technical exhibitions of projects undertaken by our students during their curriculum are organized along with cultural events wherein famous celebrity perform .
- Survey camp:Every year survey camp of final year students of civil engineering is organized in hill station wherein students are taught various concepts of surveying.
- Sports Activity:Sound Mind in a Sound body has been our guiding principle for organizing various sports events wherein students participate actively and inculcate/ learn team spirit and sportsman ship. The winning students are suitably rewarded with trophies and merit certificates.
- Excursions/ Trips :For the holistic development of student’s personality , excursions play clearly a vital role which rejuvenate them from monotonous schedule of student’s life
